A Few Words About The Trainer

Transforming Reactive Dogs Through Evidence-based training techniques and compassionate training!

HI I’m Ashley! I am the Owner and Founder of Impacting Paws. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Graduating at the Top of my class from the Tom Rose Professional Dog Training School in 2023. I have trained for Scent Detection, Field Search, Competition Agility, Tracking, I.G.P. 1 Retrieve, A.K.C. Novice, and Obedience at a competition level. I am also a C.G.C (Canine Good Citizen) Evaluator. I have helped transform the lives of  hundreds of puppies and adult dogs of all sizes and breeds. Always having a deep love for dogs, a desire to improve animal well-being and a passion for enhancing a dog’s behavior. Creating a deeper bond between the owner and their dog based on clear communication and mutual respect is my true passion!

My journey began with the basics of dog training before I welcomed my DDR German Shepard puppy into my life. After digging deep into her bloodline, I quickly understood how critical early training would be. I knew that if I didn’t commit to teaching her early on, I would likely face destructive and dominating behavior down the line. The compliments from strangers about her impressive training at such a young age opened my eyes–I realized I had a natural talent for dog training. This newfound passion led me to search for a school to enhance my skills, and that’s when I discovered Tom Rose Professional Dog Training School. I was determined to attend. After seven intensive months, I graduated at the top of my class and, to my excitement became their Training Director the very next day!

I am also partnered with Animal Welfare Friends, the local animal shelter in Monticello, Ia. My main goal is to apply positive reinforcement techniques to improve a dog’s behavior and increase their chances of adoption. Gradual, positive reinforcement training reduces stress related behaviors and enhances emotional regulation. I also focus on training staff how to properly execute resources throughout the day to day life in the shelter. Teaching others how to improve dog behavior and understanding the nervous system will significantly increase success stories for these dogs. I truly enjoy providing information and training methods for new adopters and foster families to keep dogs in loving homes. Together we can create a change for these misplaced pups!
